Homemade Blueberry Iced Latte – Just Natural Flavor
Blueberry iced latte blends the smooth richness of espresso with the soft, tangy sweetness of blueberry—like a sip of Nordic summer in a glass. Made with homemade syrup and simple natural ingredients, it’s refreshing, creamy, and just the right amount of naturally sweet.

As a Nordic girl, I am totally a berry person.
I love berries, their sweetness and acidity, something that my Moroccan husband (who is totally a fruit person) can’t quite understand. When I first heard about blueberry coffee, I thought that—well, there’s a limit to what you can mix together. Someone must have crossed that line now.
But boy, I was so wrong.
Blueberry drinks are a heaven on earth (a bit too much?)! On the side of blueberry iced teas, you can use the homemade blueberry syrup for a homemade iced latte that combines the sweetness of blueberry with the strong flavor of espresso and cold milk.

When you make your own blueberry coffee syrup, you skip the artificial colorants and questionable additives—and instead get all the natural goodness of real, possibly even wild, blueberries.
By choosing to prepare blueberry syrup yourself instead of buying it from the store, you’re actively supporting your natural lifestyle habits, replacing everyday shortcuts with more mindful, homemade alternatives.

Ingredients you need for an iced blueberry latte
The ingredient list for an iced blueberry latte is quite short. If you have already made blueberry simple syrup, just skip the making simple syrup from scratch part to the iced latte ingredients.
Ingredients for the blueberry simple syrup
I encourage you to make a homemade one, as it is so easy, but you can also use a shop-bought blueberry simple syrup. You can make the syrup with either fresh or frozen blueberries, whichever is convenient to you.

- Blueberries: fresh or frozen
- Caster sugar: I recommend plain white caster sugar for the right consistency and brighter color.
- Water: To help the sugar dissolve and the blueberries boil.
Ingredients for iced blueberry latte

- Blueberry simple syrup: Homemade one is the real thing, so if you have not yet done it by yourslef today you’ll learn my simple recipe.
- Espresso: Use a rich-flavoured espresso and always a freshly made. If you don’t have an espresso machine, you can use a strong hot or cold-brewed coffee instead. Recipe uses one shot of espresso, but feel free to double the espresso if you prefer to enjoy your iced latte stronger.
- Milk of your choice: Unsweetened almond milk and semi-skimmed milk go perfectly with this flavor combination! For a hint of luxurious feeling, mix some cream with milk to enhance the rich flavors of the espresso and the sweetness of the blueberry.
- Vanilla: I use vanilla sugar, but if you have real vanilla beans, I encourage you to use them! You can also give it a try with vanilla almond milk or skip the extra vanilla seasoning completely.
- Cardamom (optional): A hint of cardamom gives this iced blueberry latte a yummy blueberry bun vibe, which I truly love. It enchances the flavours of coffee and blueberry. You can skip it or try a dash of cinnamon instead.

Tools you may need
Start by gathering the tools you need for an easy workflow. Here are the suggestions on what you may need when making the blueberry simple syrup and the blueberry iced latte.
Tools for the syrup
- Small saucepan

- Strainer
- Glass bottles to store leftover syrup
Tools for the blueberry iced latte
- Espresso Machine
- Measuring cups or spoons
- A highball glass for serving
- Reusable stainless steel straws
How to make iced blueberry latte at home
Start by making the blueberry simple syrup. If you have it already, you can skip the first step and jump directly to step two.
Step one: Make the blueberry syrup
Pour blueberries and water into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Let blueberries cook with water for 2 minutes, and blend them with an immersion blender until smooth.
If you prefer clear simple syrup (which is my goal when using with drinks for it looks so much better!) strain the blueberries off, save the liquid, and discard the blueberry mush, or use it in your morning yoghurt with granola or a smoothie.
Measure the blueberry juice. To make simple syrup, you need one part juice and one part sugar in volume. You should have now about 100 ml of blueberry juice, so you can add the 100 ml of sugar (90 grams) into the saucepan. If you have more, just add an equal amount of sugar in volume measurements compared to the blueberry liquid you have.
Bring the blueberry juice and sugar to a boil. Let the sugar dissolve and remove from the stove. Store air tightly in a clean glass bottle. Set aside to cool down.
You now have blueberry simple syrup for about 3-5 portions for iced teas, mocktails or coffees, so you can store it for later use too!
Step two: Build the iced blueberry latte
Brew the espresso. Pour 3/4 of the blueberry syrup into the sides of a tall glass. Save a bit to drizzle on the top.

Pour the espresso into the bottom.
Add plenty of ice cubes.
Then pour slowly the milk on top, so as not to mix with the coffee too much.
Add more ice cubes if needed to fill the glass well, and finish the drink with a drizzle of the blueberry syrup on the top of the ice cubes.

| TIP: Use bigger blocks of ice cubes or coffee ice cubes to prevent a soggy and diluted iced latte!
Serving & Styling Tips
Build in the reverse order: Start with blueberry syrup at the bottom (or sides) of the glass, ice cubes, milk of your choice, and espresso to the top. Pour the espresso slowly to make beautiful swirls of coffee through the milk for an Instagram-worthy shot.
Use a Nordic-style minimalist tall glass to better see the colors and swirls of your iced blueberry latte.
Garnish with a cocktail stick with high-bush blueberries to make it an even more beautiful treat!

Because everything is more fun and delicious when drinking with a straw, I use my favourite reusable stainless steel straws with any iced beverages, and the blueberry iced latte makes no difference!
Tips on storing and making ahead
Homemade blueberry syrup stays good for up to 4-5 days when stored in the fridge. You can also store it in the freezer in handy portions using an ice cube tray. They will last good until next harvest.
Blueberry iced latte itself is best when enjoyed freshly made.
Variations & adjustments
- For a vegan blueberry iced latte, swap the dairy milk for a plant based one. I really like almond milk with blueberries, but oat milk is also a flavourful option.
- Try with vanilla oat milk and skip the vanilla sugar.
- For a stronger blueberry iced latte, use two shots of espresso.
- For a sweeter iced latte, add gradually more blueberry simple syrup (taste in between to not overdo it!)
- Adjust the sweetness levels by adding less syrup if you want less sweetness and less sugar in your drink.
You asked, I answered
Here are the frequently asked questions about the blueberry iced latte. If you have any further questions, comment below and I’ll get back to you!
Can I use cold brew?
Sure! If you have a cold brew, you can surely use it in your iced blueberry latte. It might have a different flavor profile depending on the coffee used and the brewing time. Generally, cold-brew coffee has more softer and more rounded flavor than hot-brewed one.
How to store the blueberry coffee syrup?
Store the homemade blueberry syrup airtightly in the fridge, as it contains bits and pieces of blueberry that might create mildew if stored on the counter. You can also freeze your blueberry simple syrup in portions using an ice cube tray and thaw the amount needed as needed.

Can I use another sweetener other than plain caster sugar in the syrup?
Yes, but it might change the consistency and brightness of the syrup, so I don’t recommend it.
How can I make a blueberry iced latte dairy-free?
To make a dairy-free blueberry iced latte, you need to simply swap the dairy milk and use a plant-based milk instead. Try out with your favourite ones. I recommend almond milk or oat milk that are quite neutral in flavor, so they do not overpower the other flavours of the iced latte.
