September Bucket List: Natural ways to welcome autumn
The darkness of September has started to creep in here in the North. Autumn is the time to wander in the forest among the coloured fallen leaves whenever there is enough light and bake and make more things at home. Read further for more seasonal natural living inspiration!

I have gathered for you natural lifestyle inspiration in seasonal bucket lists that I am publishing monthly. You can join the email list below to get them in your inbox when they are published, or read here the ones that have already been published:

Gather autumn leaves for wreaths
Create a DIY twig wreath base using fallen birch branches or other pliable branches and decorate them with the fall colours.
The maple leaves are my favourites: colourful and large leaves are an easy way to make a stunning natural decoration.
Make dark hot chocolate
Take warm woolen blankets out of the closet and cook some velvety dark hot chocolate for the darkening evenings.
You can already prep for the darkening nights with a dark hot chocolate mix that can be pulled from the pantry or given as a natural gift.

Make seed and nut butters form scratch
When the harvest is already gathered, it is best to turn to root vegetables, seeds, and nuts. Try sunflower seed paste or roasted almond butter to make your dishes and breads more intriguing and versatile.
If seed butters are not your thing, try out other homemade spreads instead.
Forage pine cones for decoration
Don’t need to be a squirrel, but the pine cones are beautiful foraged materials for the wreaths and fall center pieces.
You can also make some simple pine cone candle cuffs for your candles to catch any dripping stearine. I don’t have a full tutorial, but let me know in the comments if you would like me to show how they are done!

Make long weekend hikes
Autumn time is a good time to recharge in Nature. Wear comfortable shoes and take your hubby or a good friend to spend some time wandering on hiking trails.
Live with the seasons and take advantage of the grounding time of the autumn, and enjoy the last warming beams of light.
Gather apples
Apples are an amazing thing to make apple jams and juices. If you love Nordic-style glogg, try out my apple glogg recipe! It is a white glogg made with apple juice and infused with warm spices like cardamom and a hint of bitter orange peel.

Bake apple pie
As a continuation of gathering apples, I need to separately mention the apple pie. Now it is time for that! A soft apple pie with ground cinnamon and ginger in the filling. M-mmm. Simply the September wouldn’t be anything without at least a few (OR a dozen) apple pies.
